Uses Requiring Prior Written Permission

Unless WeedScience.org gives prior written permission, users may not:

• automatically scrape, crawl, query, harvest, or extract information from the website;
• systematically collect records through repeated searches or requests;
• download or copy substantial portions of the Database;
• create or maintain a copy, mirror, replica, or parallel database based substantially on WeedScience.org;
• periodically or continuously check WeedScience.org in order to update or synchronize another database;
• use WeedScience.org data for artificial-intelligence or machine-learning training, fine-tuning, testing, validation, benchmarking, embeddings, vector databases, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), synthetic-data generation, or predictive modeling;
• use WeedScience.org data to develop herbicide-resistance prediction systems or similar automated products;
• redistribute, resell, sublicense, or publish substantial extracted datasets; or
• use substantial WeedScience.org data in a commercial product or service.

Breaking a large extraction into many smaller searches or downloads does not make the activity permitted.

Academic, student, nonprofit, or non-commercial status does not automatically authorize bulk extraction or AI/machine-learning use. Researchers needing substantial quantities of data should contact WeedScience.org and request permission.

Scientific Facts and Database Content

WeedScience.org does not claim copyright ownership of individual scientific facts merely because they appear in the Database.

These restrictions concern systematic acquisition and reuse of the WeedScience.org resource, together with copyright and other rights that may apply to the website, database organization, original text, graphics, software, and curated compilation.

Licensing and Permission

Permission or separate licences may be available for substantial academic datasets, commercial uses, AI/ML research, predictive modeling, and other large-scale uses.
